Caught on Camera - of a
Different Kind
October 2007
Matt Doggett has helped film and present a promotional
film about Coral Cay Conservation's initiatives in Southern Leyte,
Philippines.
Coral
Cay Conservation (CCC) is a not-for-profit organisation at the cutting
edge of marine conservation and eco-tourism. Teams of volunteers
enable projects to run that aim to survey and protect some of the
world's most endangered coral reefs and tropical forests. CCC's
mission is to protect these crucial environments and alleviate poverty
by working closely with the local communities who depend on them
for food and livelihood (www.coralcay.org).
The
short film, shot while the earthinfocus photographer was working
for the conservation charity as the Project Scientist, details the
work carried out by volunteers on a Coral Cay expedition, and features
some amazing underwater footage.

Cay Conservation in the Philippines can be viewed at www.current.com/items/85414141_coral_cay_conservation_in_the_philippines)

Sweeps the Boards in Photographic Competition
September 2007
Earthinfocus.com's
very own Matt Doggett has wowed the judges of the British Ecological
Society's 2007 Photographic Competition - Celebrating Ecology.
The
British Ecological Society (BES) is a learned society and a registered
charity, which was established in 1913 to promote and foster the
study of ecology in its widest sense.
Sweeping
the board, Matt not only won two categories but also claimed the
competition's overall winner and runner up prizes.
Matt's
award winning images were taken while working in the Philippines
as a Project Scientist for Coral Cay Conservation (www.coralcay.org)
and lived up to the competition's tag line by celebrating the ecology
of this amazing archipelago.
The
picture that scooped Matt the coveted title of overall winner is
a dynamic image of a paradise flying tree snake Chrysopelea paradisi
in the throws of consuming its prey - a Tokay gecko Gekko gecko.
So
impressed were the BES judges that Matt has been asked to join their
ranks in 2008!
